An Ego Bust...Boost

As some of you may know the last couple of weeks have been busy for me. In one day I sewed four matching skirts for all the girls, then later I made a pair of bloomers for Sarah to wear under her skirts and dresses, I finished the skirt I started when I was pregnant, I sewed a cat pillow and embroidered the nose, whiskers and eye lashes, I started sewing a shirt for myself and then made a pair of pajamas for myself also. You may notice that I have not posted any of this stuff and that I've been quite absent from the crafty blog. Well, partly it's because I'm a homeschooling mother of four little girls and I'm busy darn it. And it's partly because I'm completely disappointed in the shirt and pajamas. They are a big fat failure; they don't fit, look ugly and in general have made me want to sell my sewing machine. So there.

Tonight however, I have been convinced that I am not a creative idiot. The kitty is cute, I'm sure I can fix the shirt and nightgown, the girls love the skirts (even though the one for Lily is really doll sized and so is now doll clothes) and I'm sure of all that because I just cooked the yummiest meal ever!!!! I can't believe how well it turned out. I made a roast. I'm sick of pot roast with onions, carrots and potatoes so I decided I'd slow cook it. I used half a can of golden cream of mushroom soup, browned the meat first in a pan with a pad of butter and used water to get the drippings up and put all that in the slow cooker. It cooked for four hours and in that time I made a fresh loaf of french bread, baked a strawberry crumble for dessert, did science with the girls and then made mashed potatoes and served it up with some corn. Everyone gobbled everything up with gusto! I love that! It was so easy and so yummy! Feeling more motivated here are some of the things I've made.

Yeah!!!! So good to see you back - I've missed you here... Your skirts look lovely. And the cat is great too. I am not sure I would be good at stuffed animal, but I'll have a chance to find out because a friend whose husband died last year has asked me to make a stuffed bear out of one of her husband's shirts for her daughter. She has a pattern, so we'll see...

You are incredible. Don't ever feel bad for yourself you are so good at everything you seem to do! The skirts are beautiful, I love the fabric, the top and nightgown and kitty are great too! I still don't know how you find the time, so, give yourself a pat on the back and don't get overwhelmed. You are doing a GREAT job at everything you do! Makes me feel so bad, cause I don't even have kids, and I can't seem to get 3/4 of what you get done! So feel good for yourself!

jo, you have come such a long way! i remember when you were in maryland and you used to beat yourself up cause you just couldn't make yourself cook dinner every night like you thought you should be doing. you have really grown into your role as mom and wife. i think you are one of those domestic divas:)

well, that skirt that you made surprised me when i saw it cause i bought one exactly like that from Anthropologie a couple years ago. of course it was like $100 (i got it on sale for $40). isn't that crazy? they are so cute and i love twirling in mine so i can imagine how much the girls love them. and i found the pic on the amy butler site of the cat pillow and i think yours is cuter with the eyelashes and whiskers. you guys are really making me think seriously about signing up for a sewing class.

So Jo, I really like the material that you chose for the skirt. It looks like it would be rather comfortable too, though I don't know how much you tried to modify it for when you were pregnant.

I am feeling the whole Creative Bust thing right now too. I think for me it is cause the docs keep sapping the energy out of me... or maybe its the rain... it has rained non stop here for a few days now.

I will say it too, you are an incredible woman and mom, but I also know that being a stay at home mom will zap your energy too. Maybe Ella should become a contributor too... I know she is a creative genius! Okay so maybe it is time you just made your own blog too. Then Ella could be in charge of it... under you that is.

It would teach her typing skills... writting skills... computer skills... camera skills... the list goes on... but see it is educational!
