I have made my first give-away of the season. The Bible study that I am in is having our Christmas party this coming Tuesday (at my house - hence getting the curtains done...) and we are having a gift exchange. The rules of the exchange were: buy something that we get ourselves as a treat, wrap in a tea towel, under $10. Some of the suggestions were chocolates, a favorite magazine... The thing is, I buy myself fabric or a crochet hook or yarn when I treat myself, and I didn't think the other ladies would really like opening their tea towel to discover a few fat quarters! I really don't think there are any fellow crafters in this group. So I decided that I would use the last make-me-feel-good fabric purchase that I made and make some quilted coasters. I got the pattern from that Last Minute Patchwork + Quilted Gifts book that a couple of you posted a while back! I think they turned out really great. What do you think?

i like them a lot! how did you get the lines to be so straight and perfectly spaced?
wow! they look fantastic. and there is where a walking foot comes in handy!
I'm so glad you guys like them! I think they're great and look forward to making myself a set! I didn't actually use a walking foot - just my regular foot. The book called for a walking foot, though. And I got my lines straight because the foot has lines marking 1/8, 1/4, and 1/2 inches and I lined the first one up with the outside of the coaster, then the others I lined up with the previously sewn line.
wow, those look great! I am amazed at the straight stitching!! Whoever gets those are lucky! Great job!
