I have 4 balls of this cotton/Acrylic blend yarn that I picked up on impulse. Any ideas what I could do with it? Thought it was so pretty, was going to make a scarf, but am a little weary of scarf making and don't think I have enough for a blanket. Any ideas?
I have ordered some sock yarn and DPNs and can't wait to give it a shot! I found this sight - http://www.cometosilver.com/socks
it is an on line sock-knitting tutorial. Tells you everything you need to know. All you have know ahead of time is how to cast on, knit, and purl! Isn't that great? Can't wait to try it out.

ok, i think this is an answer best left to marie. i'm still working on that tiny little scarf for ella's rabbit that i started in august. :) marie is the resident knitting expert.
I'm looking up some patterns on Ravelry. I will post some options later this evening or tomorrow. Those skeins are pretty big, I think you would have enough for a blanket if you are interested. I was thinking a sweater would be good. And it's good to try something more different early on so that you don't get bored with knitting. That's why I think it's great that you are venturing out with socks. I've already found a cable sweater at here I know it might look scary, but you will be surprised at what you can do when you try.
My friend here that is teaching me to knit just tonight showed me Ravelry... I am on the waiting list! She also showed me increases, decreases and how to cable. Not nearly as difficult as I thought they were going to be. I watched her kids for her last night and she paid me in sock yarn! :-)
Thanks for that sweater pattern... looks really cute!
paid in sock yarn! that's fantastic! yeah, cables look impressive but aren't that difficult. you just have to make sure that you are using the right sized needles. too small and twisting the cable is impossible, too big and the cables look loose and sloppy. Ravelry is so much fun! when you get an invite let me know and we can be "friends". my user name is Calebsmom. they have lots of groups too. one that i joined is for knitters that like to knit baby/kid items. you could spend forever on that site!
it's ssssooooooo cool to hear all the knitting banter! woohoo. we have such a cool blog.
