Photobook

Since I haven't met most of you, I thought I'd post a photo of myself so you could have a face to put with the name. The first is of a trip to Costa Rica last summer. The second was taken in Charleston this past weekend, that's my boyfriend Darren with me.

Now for the "crafting" part of this post. I really enjoy scrapbooking, and several months ago I started to hear about "photobooks", basically scrapbooks that you make online. At first, I wasn't too fond of the idea, because it didn't seem like you had as much freedom as when you make your own book. Which is true, you're limited to the layouts that are provided, and you can't glue fun extras in, like the ticket stubs from that show you saw, etc. But it does have a nice professional look to it, because once you're done with the book you can have it printed like an actual book - it kinda reminds me of a yearbook.

Anyways, I decided to make one of these books using photos from a trip to Albuqueque with my family this past October. I gave it to my mom for Christmas and she just loved it! I'm still not going to give up true scrapbooking, but this was pretty fun too. It was especially nice being able to work on it from any computer, and not having to have a mountain of supplies with me. I used the http://www.shutterfly.com/ website, and if you'd like to see the book I made, here's a link:

it's a pleasure! nice book. my mom made me one from creative memories for last christmas...well, not this past christmas but christmas 2006. seeing all those pictures of new mexico almost made me homesick since i grew up in farmington, nm which is about 3 1/2 hours north west of albquerque, but since i'll never voluntarily live there again, i got over it. i have the exact same picture at bandelier on the ladder...except i was much much younger. maybe i'll try to find it and share. maybe, but don't hold your breath! ;)

Great book, Leah. That might be a type of scrapbooking that I will actually do! I have so much scrapbooking stuff, and yet I never actually do it! It's nice to get a look into your life since I don't now you! Thanks for shraring.

It is nice to be able to picture you when reading your posts! Thanks for posting the pics! I like the idea of the digital scrapbook. Doesn't seem like it would take as long without the paper, cutters, glue, glitter, markers, snaps, etc. etc. It's so nice to have pictures organized, cause you know they never get looked at otherwise. I so loved the bee hot air balloons!

Love the pictures! Those balloon pictures are great... my goodness my kids would have loved that. I have made one of those books before for my mother-in-law, just after we moved over here. I didn't get to see it in person, but she was super impressed. I am with you though, they are nice, but I really enjoy the physical act of scrapbooking... even if I am years behind!

while doing this book i realized one thing that i really like about "real" scrapbooking that i had never thought about before - how easy it is to organize your pictures. you can flip through them and quickly put them in whatever order or grouping you want. on the computer, it's a tedious process of scrolling and moving and maybe creating folders or renaming files. it just seems to take forever.
