Just thought I'd pick your brains on my favorite holiday. I find I enjoy it even more now that we live here in England where it is not celebrated. I miss my family in the US, but really enjoy inviting over some British friends to share our day with.
This year I want my Thanksgiving to be even better and have decided to make a grand effort at simplicity. No fancy time-consuming dishes. Just good, easy food and good friends.
I was wondering what your tips are for a great Thanksgiving??

More and more I want to do things like...grill out on Thanksgiving. I do live in Florida where that's possible. I like making different dishes like asparagus with warm bacon vinagrette. It's also incredibly easy to make but the vinagrette is good on everything, not just asparagus. I stopped making so many pies. They never get eaten. The things I love about Thanksgiving are having family over, watching football, playing games. I don't think I know how to make it more simple. I think I'd make a boneless turkey breast. That's easy and tasty!! Can you get that at the commissary?
I was thinking about doing a boneless turkey breast this year. Most years, Shane and I made a ham because it's so easy and quick. And then we would also have green bean casserole, homemade potatoes, and pumpkin pie. That's it. But, it was easy and I like that I was able to actually enjoy the day instead of spending it in the kitchen.
I don't know.... I think I want to play it up more this year, but I can't say it will actually happen....
I haven't hosted many thanksgivings, so I still foolishly enjoy spending the whole day in the kitchen. Sorry. :)
