I Take It Back

So maybe selling my yarn on ebay wasn't one of my best ideas. I just can't do it. So I am thinking now that I will choose a project for each one and make a photo copy of that pattern. Then I will put the yarn and pattern in a big ziploc. It will be easy for me to start a new project and maybe I won't feel so bad having all that yarn if each one has a specific future. I won't have to look at all that yarn and think "I really like that! Someday I will make ... something ... with that yarn!" Plus I will get to shop for patterns and this will make me feel less like buying more yarn. Yes. I think this is a better plan.

Also, this is very frustrating. I went through all of my yarn and I can't find all of that cotton. I have no idea where it went. It was driving me crazy because we're pretty much unpacked and our apartment is so small. Yet, I can't find that yarn!! Maybe it got lost during the move. But I did find about half of it. Unfortunately, most of it is plain boring white. A few pink, one blue and one dark green. But I did find the washable wool leftovers and there is quite a bit. I will also bring copies of a pattern for baby booties you can use with that yarn. The only thing is that it is pretty thin (sport-weight) and you have to use pretty small needles. I think I used US2 and US3 for the sweater. Anyway, it will be fun to go through all the yarn. I will mail the box in a few days since I don't think it will fit in my suitcase. But Jo!! You can't open it until we get there. No peeking!

Okay, we'll humor you...Yes, that is a great idea. You'll never want to buy yarn again as long as you have patterns attached to the yarn you already have!! :) Maybe I shouldn't be this sarcastic with you since you don't really know me to know it is all in good natured fun! I would have a very hard time parting with any of my stash too. I still have some dresses cut out, but not sewn up from about 8 years ago when I was going to make some basic dresses for teaching. Nothing I would wear today - jumpers and such. But I keep thinking that I'll be able to use that fabric for SOMETHING. Who knows...

I think the smallest knitting needles I have are US4. Maybe I have a 3...you might have to be willing to provide remote knitting lessons to go with those patterns, though. :) I'm afraid my skills are limited to a basic knit and purl.

Don't worry, I knew right away that you were just playing. Although, it is your duty as my friends to indulge me when I am trying to convince myself that I will actually use what I have and not buy anymore yarn. Just thinking about having things be so organized gives me such a warm fuzzy. I think it's that organizer in me that is going crazy right now. It was a lot easier to ignore my stash when it had a room of its own. But oh! I forgot to mention this! I was giving my sad story to Shane about how I can't bear to sell any of it on ebay and he said that it was okay since Caleb has two closets and won't need them himself anytime soon since he is only two! I of course took that as permission to buy more yarn if I ever become overwhelmed with desire.

Does Shane ever read this blog? If so, you might want to erase that last comment! :)

And you're right, you're doing great to organize!
