Christmas

The beginnings of a Christmas stocking for Lily. These are labor intensive but well worth it!
Here's a picture of the seven I made in 2005.
I think this is what I want for Christmas. The big question is how do I subtly get that message across to Del? Any hints? Maybe he'll read the blog! I want the whole package (all her Regency patterns for $79) and to take her online class. I don't know why, I can't imagine that I'd ever actually use one of the dresses, it seems totally impractical. She does mention that one of the dresses has a drawstring waist and so is good for pregnancy and nursing, which is really good for me since one year I'm pregnant, the next I'm nursing, habitually. But...although I think the dresses are so beautiful and look so comfortable I just can't see myself wearing them in this modern age. I like my comfy khaki pants, I like my timeless "little black dress" (for all the times Del and I go out to eat at nice restaurants; it still has it's tag on!). So anyway, check it out. I like the Regency era patterns and the Edwardian apron.

Wow, that dress is pretty! Look at all those squares you have cut for the stocking already, you go girl. I'm still jealous, I cant seem to get motivated. I started my Tree skirt, but I am stuck on stupid, not sure how to proceed. I am at work and looking at this blog and getting inspired, but also feeling behind on the crafting thing. I wish I could craft at work, that would be GREAT!!! Good luck with the stocking, can't wait to see them all lined up, they all look great!

you guys are sure busy lately. there seems to be something new to read everytime i check. it also inspires me, yet makes me feel like a slacker. i remember those stockings and how you got them embroidered. i think for Christmas you should ask for an embroidery machine instead of those dress patterns :) although i really like those dresses. i'd wear some of them in public.

lol, i'd really like to have an embroidery machine for christmas. but there's a little matter of $1000 vs. $79....

i'm not sure i have the guts to stand out like that. i like my clothes because i blend in pretty darn well and that's good for me. wearing one of those beautiful dresses would mean i'd stick out like a sore thumb. one girl had her mom make one of those dresses for her prom. wasn't that a totally cool idea?!

I think those stockings are beautiful! I am not sure I would put in quite as much work. I really need new stockings though. I got one for Aaron one year that I LOVE and I am really wishing I had bought lots of them "just in case" while I was there, because I've never found one for Ethan that I like at all. He has been using mine from when I was a kid.

And don't waste your money on a $1000 embroidery machine if you ever have it to waste. It won't really stitch out well if you look at the under $3000 range. Of course, maybe they've made them lots better since I bought mine...but the ones we saw were pretty unreliable at that price point. Just my $.02!

$3000? You don't have to worry about me ever buying one then. I can't afford that even if I wanted one. Guess I will have to get you to embroider all the stuff I need Johanna.

Aren't the Christmas stockings that you made last time made with Christmas material??? This time I don't see any Christmas in there.

No problem! I'm happy to be the "go-to" girl for all your embroidery needs. After all, I gotta justify the many thousand we spent on the machine!! :)

I hate to crush you, but that's not what Del's thinking of getting you for Christmas.....
