Etsy. Have You Heard of It?

Have you guys checked out Etsy? It's a place that you can buy and sell handmade items. I've been thinking about it lately since we are trying to get pregnant and I will soon be working (as a mom, not an accountant) at home. It seems pretty easy. I think they charge only $0.20 to post one item. The tricky thing is making and selling things that you've created and not using someone else's pattern. Although I've seen items for sale that I know is made from a bought pattern. Anyway, I just want to make sure you all know about this place, if you want to try and make some money off your craft. Although, I know that is what you are already doing Johanna. Have you heard of this place? Do you have any thoughts on selling items in this way versus your own personal website?

I have heard of it and checked it out too. I am thinking about putting some items up on it as well as my site. I personally ahve only ever had one sale directly from my web site. (Which is probably why I am not motivated at all to keep my site updated.) I was thinking that some items that I've purchased just to check them out, then decided not to sell them, I could put those on Etsy. I have also found other people who sell what I sell on Etsy and they put their web address to their regular site in a creative way on their Etsy. It might be a way to draw more people to my site.

i think you probably could get more exposure on Etsy. be sure and let us know how to look up your stuff when you put some things on there. do you think you could make a kids apron with the name embroidered on it? i really want to get Caleb one cause he likes to help me cook. there's a super cute one at Williams-Sonoma with a race car on it but it's $24 if you get the name embroidered on it. and i have a hard time paying that much for something that is mass-produced. i know they are only paying like $3 for it.

oooh yeah let me know about the aprons too. Been teaching my older 2 a bit about cooking and I know they would LOVE their own aprons.
I am not crafty enough to sell on etsy, but love to purchase stuff like that- thanks for the link!

I like the colors! your green walls look just like my best friends house! How do you like the leather couch? We had one and got rid of it cause it was cold in the winter and hot in the summer. I really do like the color it added to the room. Maybe you need some off white blinds instead of the white, or wood ones? Just my input that all....You go girl!
