The First Big Step

Last year I sold three handmade balls to a lady for her daughter for Christmas. She asked if I could make stockings, but I was pregnant and sick so pretty much I said, "No." I took my first big step today in selling some of the stuff I make, especially the stockings. I made an etsy shop for myself. Del came up with the name. Roget's thesaurus lists a synonym for craft, as a business, calling. So, we named it JoMama's Calling. Pretty neat, eh? It's my craft, it's my calling and I'm doing my calling, all the things that God called me to do. I didn't list anything for sale yet because I have way too many other things in my head right now. Anyway, there you go. I get copyright now, right?

Jo, that is so fantastic! How exciting! Have you any thoughts about designing the stuff you make? I wonder if there are copyright issues with the free patterns that people put up on the internet.

Hi Amy, thanks for coming to look at our blog. Joanna made the ornaments and I'm (Marie) the one that is on Ravelry. That picture of my son makes me laugh every time I look at it. I almost want to blow it up and frame it :))

You go, Jo! Love the name, too. I hope this works out for you - it is fun to earn money for the things I make. It gives me a sense of purpose beyond being a mommy. Most days I don't need that, but some days I just want to be an adult - not just a mommy. Can't wait to see the first items apear!
