So I thought “hey if everybody else is doing it…” then I might as well too. So I joined the flylady thing that everyone is talking about. So far, I can’t say that I am very impressed. All that has happened is that I was inundated with so many emails that I “had” to switch it to the daily digest, but now I miss the timely reminders…. but I would have likely missed them anyways as I can’t get to the computer most of the day anyways in which to receive said messages. So I am unsure of how well this is going to work for me. It is a nice idea though.

A lot of the reminder e-mails repeat each day, so I have found that I know what they say by looking at the subject line and don’t have to read them. I just absorb the subject and delete. I am slowly noticing my whole house take on a more polished look - and I am not even keeping up with everything that is being added each day. Jerry is very pleased!
yeah, i opted for the daily digest at first but then you get yesterdays reminders today and how helpful is that? i do what johanna does. i don’t need a motivational speech from someone once an hour so i delete those without looking at them at all. the ones i read are the ones in the morning that tell me what today’s mission is. you know my favorite email is the one that says “where is your laundry”. i’ve never been so caught up on my laundry! i can’t wait to get to my bedroom. that’s going to be a bear.
i checked this out so i can keep up with what you guys are doing. i think she’s a bit kooky. but it’s great that she’s helping so many to be more productive and organized. i think she made a good point about the shoes. i would feel way more productive if i had lace up shoes on instead of squishy, thick socks on. but i would never where outside shoes in my home. no way! but maybe this weekend i will clean the bottoms of some yellow keds that i’ve worn maybe 2 times in the 6 years i’ve owned them and they will be my house sneakers.
So I thought about it and kept it at the daily digest. So I get the emails a day late…. It just means that I get Wednesday off instead of Tuesday and that is a okay with me. I would also rather come to one big email and ignore half of it than to 25 and have to sit there and delete them all. Go figure, we all have our own ways of doing things.
I also found that I didn’t really care for doing the kitchen sink shining. But it did inspire me to make sure that the sink was empty prior to bed which does make me feel better in the morning. So what if there are water spots on it, at least you can see the bottom of it and it’s not like it is growing any science experiments.
What it really comes down to is that I don’t like using a lot of cleaning products. I mean I use soap and water but I don’t like to over do any of it like my mom does (she is one where the floor is sanitary enough to eat off of, though she would still freak out if you did). Sometimes I think using all of the products makes it just as unhealthy as not getting it quite as clean. I also certainly have not noticed much difference health wise. I mean all the cleaning comercials say that they kill all the cold and flu viruses that come through but even without their products we haven’t been that sick… certainly no sicker that the average family with kids.
I am with you on cleaning products. I just hate the thought of chemicals being used all over the place. I did use Melalueca for a while and LOVED it, but who wants to spend $50+ a month on that stuff? I love flylady’s shower cleaning method… have you read it yet? She just uses her shampoo! She does a bit every day. I tried it and was amazed it works! Who would have thought!
hmm, i haven’t read the shower cleaning bit yet. i just used ella’s old toothbrush to thoroughly clean the tub yesterday. it looks nice. i don’t use chemicals every day. at the end of the day i take my towel and dry off all the water and get the water spots off. then i put the towel in the laundry and put out a fresh one. in the morning the sink is empty and shiny. it’s great!
