These aren't really maternity knits, but I think they could be worn when pregnant. Don't you think? These are all from a new Debbie Bliss book for her new yarn Prima, which is 80% bamboo and 20% merino wool.
Would it be wrong of me to start knitting a pregnancy shirt before I even get pregnant? I try not to be superstitious, but at this point we're going on 6 months without getting pregnant so I don't want to jinx myself. But then again, I did start knitting the sheep sweater about a year before we got pregnant and Caleb turned out okay. I know. I'm being silly, but I'm going a little crazy from the lack of a fertilized egg in my uterus.

wow, they do all look like pregnancy sweaters. since it's about to be summer, if you get pregnant next month, would you be able to wear them? sending fertilized-egg-vibes your way...
I think they all would make great maternity sweaters and I don't think you are nuts for starting now... that way you will actually have them when you need them! Maternity clothes are so hard to find.
They would all be great for pregnancy. And I think you'll get use out of them in the end, even if you get pregnant tomorrow.
I'm with you on feeling crazy from the lack of fertilized egg in my uterus. We are on month 5 of trying, and had one miscarriage in that time too. So I know that pregnancy is possible (well, that and the two kids I already have!), but get easily discouraged when it becomes evident that it didn't happen again. You are not alone!
Johanna, wouldn't it be great if, in the end, we both get pregnant at the same time? We could be like Tina and Joanna :) And good point about being able to wear it even though I'm not pregnant. After all, they aren't technically maternity clothes. So, which one should I make? I was thinking the lacy one in black. I think that would make a great office cardi. But I wonder if the black will make it hard to see the pretty detail of the lace.
those are pretty. which one do you think you would do? if you do the first one make sure it will fit over pregnant boobs :)
if you made one for the summer could you do it with shorter sleeves?
I like the top one too. I think that as long as you wore a lighter color underneath it, like white, the lacy detail would show up. I think it is the one you would get the most use out of. Even right after the baby it will look nice on you.
Here's to simultaneous pregnancy!!
Oh, Leah, I had to laugh about the pregnant boobs thing. I'll just speak for myself here, but when you start with close to no boobs, pregnant boobs mean that things finally fit!! :)
exactly Johanna! when i was pregnant, i finally filled out an A cup!!! So I would probably do what ever size is equal to a 34" bust. I'm also thinking that the laciness will help it to stretch a bit.
I think the long- and short-sleeve will be okay since the long sleeves don't look too bulky and would be easy to put on and take off. And when you're pregnant, short-sleeve is the way to go most times anyway, even in the winter. I remember demanding to have the AC on in the car if it got warmer than 60 degrees.
YES! what's with the hot flashes?
ahhh well you saw my picture... it looks like i will have the opposite problem haha. i'm not looking forward to them getting any bigger.
yeah, they do look like they would be nice for the wintertime. Nice and warm.
Its funny cause here I am in a sweatshirt and the weather man said it would be in the 70's. Everyone else is wearing short sleeves, but me!!! Hot flashes my foot.
You are so right, they are definitely pregnancy sweaters! I love the purple one. I want it although I have no intention of getting pregnant ever again (she said wistfully...)
Oh Leah, I am right there with you! Mine are too big to start with and once I am pregnant they go nuts. Not to mention when I am nursing! I can't wait to wean, so I can at least get back to my normal, overly large, size!
