Thriftiness
The problem with having a realitively tall young lady in my house is that the clothes that fit are always too short. Take for instance the dress that I bought her at the garage sale last weeekend. I thought it was an adorable dress, washed it up and got it ready for her to wear to the baby shower on Sunday. Then I put it on and it is too short. She bends over and the whole world sees the diaper. Ugh. So I have one hour to figure something out. Since I live too far from a decent store in which to buy something like that in the hour I have, I decided the sewing machine was calling. I tried tracing a pair of her panties onto material and making a diaper cover from scratch but by the time that all the seams were finished (rather crudely... I was in a hurry after all) I think it might have fit a baby doll or maybe a newborn. Try again... Now we are down to half an hour though. So I start looking around the house. Ah Ha! That's it! I found an old stained onsie and went to work. I chopped of the top half, made a channel for the elastic and whoo ho! I have a diaper cover!!!! And best yet, I have a left over short shirt to put under overalls or what not. Just cause it has some stains on it doesn't render it completely useless.... after all it is called being thrifty!

Aren't you clever! Too bad I will never be able to knit fast enough to whip something up when I am in a bind! ha ha ha
I'm impressed. I think I'd have to make a stop at the store on the way to our destination. I have been thinking lately about how much quicker it is to sew something than to knit. I mean, you could sew a simple bag in a couple hours right? It'd take a week to knit one. I keep wanting to try to sew again, but I'd have to buy fabric cause I gave all my stash away (which really is a good thing, cause at least it's getting used). Joann's is tempting me! Did you guys get the all those coupons that expire today (3/8/07)? I'm off to pick up some knitting items and stuffing. Anyway, i guess that goes against your point about being thrifty. But, like I said, I'm impressed.
lol, that's hilarious. good job meagan!
I don't think I would have thought of that at all! Of course, my boys are short to average, so I only have to roll the hem and go! Much easier...
ah, you added a picture! awesome! great job! the picture really brings it home. that is really cool meagan.
i'm impressed meagan, especially by the "thriftyness". it's no wonder we get along so well :)
