The Not-So-Spectacular-But-Super-Cuddly Blankie

I got this polka dot minky fabric from a quilt shop in West Virginia. They had all their minky 40% off because it's so bulky and was taking up too much room in the shop.

I know this is not the most interesting blanket, but I was really impressed with how quick of a project this was. I sewed the right sides together and then turned inside out and sewed again on the outside. This is really helping the two pieces to not separate in the middle. I thought I would have to tack it down in the middle, but it's not necessary. I did rip the seams out once though because it was tricky to prevent the two pieces from bunching on one side. But even still, I finished it within one hour.

This minky is super nice. The length of the fur is longer than the minky at Joann's. It's so super cuddly, as I had Caleb demonstrate for you below. Isn't he cute? :)

Hurrah! So has Caleb started to use the new blankie? It looks big enough to use as a cover too. Did you use the walking foot?

yes, i used the walking foot and i kept think that i am so glad that i bought it! it's wonderful. it's not actually for Caleb. it's for his yet-to-be-created brother or sister. i just packed it away for now.

Oohhhhh, it's really cute! Great job, Marie! Isn't sewing so satisfying. I really like being able to finish an entire project so quickly. Talk about job satisfaction and instant gratification.

Not so much with the current bag project though. Grrr...

awww..that is too cute, Caleb does the modeling so well and makes me want to snuggle. You did a great job on the corners too, which for me gets frustrating. I think I have a walking foot, I just don't really know when or how for that fact to use it. I have some mink fabric that I bought for Derrek to make with the Pittsburg Steelers logo on it and I promised to make a lap blanket for Derrek, but I have put it off cause I dont want it to get all curled, it you know what I am talking about.

Getting back to the point I think you did an excellent job and it seems like you are getting a lot done everyday! Im proud of you!

I like it :-)
Puts me in mind of the 'mink' blankets in Korea!
