Recent knitting...

I know you all have a burning desire to see what exactly I have been up to.... so here goes!
Finished a pair of socks.... the first in a long while... have about 3 pair half-finished, but haven't had the desire to pick them up lately. These are the first really patterned socks I have done and I really like how they turned out.
I am a part of a small bible study that meets at my home on Monday mornings. I picked up some of this cotton thread (that came in handy for our ornament exchange) and knitted some bookmarks for the 3 ladies that attend. Have to say that I really like them, though. I was unsure of how they would turn out. After blocking them, I starched them with a nice hot iron and it gave them enough stiffness to have a real feeling about them. They are a bit fiddly to knit, but I may make some more. (the ball of cotton thread is, I swear, never ending).

And, finally a scarf. A friend here has been begging for ages for me to knit her up a cotton scarf-as she is allergic to everything else. Here is how it turned out.

I like it, but do find scarves to be agonizingly repetitive. That being said, I am working on another scarf now. This one, though is a pretty lace one. With a ruffle. :-) Hopefully I will finish it before I get horribly bored and it is tossed in the basket never to be seen or heard from again......

AWESOME! I really like the color you picked out for the socks. That is so cool that you actually do something productive with your spare time. Can I just say again that I am so glad you found knitting!

Oh, so am I Jo. Not sure what I did with all my time before knitting (or all my money! ha ha)

I really like the bookmarks. I think I would like to try them, I think I have a spool of cotton in my stash box in the basement...thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks you guys!
Jen - I have had a great time looking at your website and am jealous of the life you lead with your very own sheep :-)
Leah - This is how I learned to knit socks. http://www.cometosilver.com/socks/
Really well done with great pictures!

I am so behind in my blog reading that I am just now seeing this. SO BEAUTIFUL! I am in love with those socks. I have been itching to knit again lately. I have been in such a creative slump - not even wanting to sew, knit, crochet, or anything else. I have written a few poems...but that's it for creativity for me. Maybe seeing your beautiful things will give me that push I need! You have become an amazing knitter!

Oh, and I'm going to look at that link for knitting socks. I bought a book for learning to knit socks, and have started two pairs...haven't finished any though. :)
