Finishing a Project Feels Fabulous

I started this blanket last summer. I really don't know why I made it. I think that I will give it to Tina's baby if she tells me she's having a boy tomorrow (she goes for her ultrasound in the morning)! I think the white border was a great idea and really finishes the blanket. Not sure what I'm going to do with it if Tina is having a girl. Maybe keep it to see if I'm having a boy. If I do end up giving it to Tina's baby and then find out I'm having a boy then I will make another one with the same yarn only in blue. I really like that style of yarn. Del and I aren't really known for making boys though, are we?So, now I need a new project. I think I will work on Valentine's cards for my grandma with the girls.

It looks comfy. What kind of yarn did you use? Did you do single crochets?

it was bernat from joann's. the label said "denimstyle". it's a worsted weight. i used "faded khaki" for the main part and "white" for the border. and yes, it's all single crochets. it's very soft.

is it acrylic? i don't know if this has happened to you, but i crocheted a blanket with Lion brand Homespun, which is acrylic. It was so soft and silky, but it feels yuckier each time i was and dry it. the only way i can think to describe the texture is crunchy/squeaky. do you think maybe if acrylic is hand washed and air dried it would stay soft?

it's 70% acrylic and 30% cotton. i made a blanket for tina's daughter elena out of similar stuff and tina tells me elena carries the blanket around everywhere. it must have been wash a lot the last year and a half. i'll ask tina what she thinks.
