Distracted...Sidelined

So, I found my old yarn stash. The stuff has been in storage for at least two years. It had in it a fleece blanket I started making for you when you were pregnant with Caleb. So this project is nearly three years old. I bought the blanket pre-made and ripped out the border it had on it and then crocheted the new border on. The pictures simply do not do it justice. I tried and tried to get the color to turn out well but it looks terrible! The real color of the yarn is a very nice spring green. You'd really like it.It also had three skeins of Bernat CottonTots yarn. I crocheted a really pretty blanket for Johanna's son Ethan out of the same stuff. To date it is my favorite yarn to crochet with. This is also the yarn I used to make Tina's daughter Elena a blanket. I started on a new blanket that's a zig-zag pattern with a granny crochet. You can't see the zig-zag really because I didn't use a highly contrasting color. You can barely see the white there. It's 100% cotton and really soft but for some reason with the granny crochet it feels terrible. I've accomplished a lot on the blanket but I'm pretty sure I'm going to frog it and never make another granny crocheted anything in my life. I just don't care for the look or feel. Anyway, I want to find a store that sells the yarn (looked at JoAnn and Michael's, not there) so I can make a decent blanket with it because three skeins isn't enough. Plus it's so boyish, who's having a boy? Besides Tina that is, but I already made him something.

that blanket looks like it would be perfect for caleb to use for his naps at the daycare. you're right about the color, it doesn't really look green but since you pointed it out, i can tell that it is. that cotton yarn reminds me of Mission Falls 1824 cotton, which is on sale at Purl (http://www.purlsoho.com/purl/products/yarndetail/1218) but most of the colors are gone now. it is probably thicker than the Bernat yarn though.

The crocheted binding is very nice. It makes it look more expensive and will hold up well in the washings. That is one cute whale. Granny Lyn
