My spoonula and I made this tasty dish last night: an overnight coffee cake that I will never make again due to the 3/4 cup of butter and 1 3/4 cup of sugar the recipe called for. It was good but not healthy!
You may notice the cute pink napkin there. That's my project for today. I have been mulling over making napkins for quite some time and I notice that my girls are constantly wiping their mouths on their shirts even if they have paper napkins so I thought if I made some super cute cloth napkins that they might be more motivated to save their shirts. I took them to Joann's and let Ella pick out the fabric. At first I was horrified by her choice but in the end, I think they make darned cute napkins!
The other thing I'm working on are these totally cute pumpkins I saw Eleanor Burns make on her show Quilt in a Day. It's easy as pie to make, just one seam and some light gathering and stuffing and you're done, basically. I'm going to make at least a dozen of these so that my grandma can sell them at her community's craft fair. I think they can sell them for a couple of dollars a piece and all the proceeds will go to sending children with cancer at the local hospital to a camp to have some fun, a good cause I think. Cute, eh?

Okay, all the time everyone comments about how much you get done in a day! I usually don't, but oh my gosh! You get a ton done in a day! :) I love the napkins and the pumpkins. I might have to try the pumkins myself. I have been wanting some Thanksgiving stuff. I bought some Thanksgiving embroidery designs that I was going to use on some placemats or a table runner or somehting...Now I have options!
Your coffee cake looks yummy too, but I am with you on the shockingly unhealthy fat and sugar! But, you only live once! :)
So I love your pumpkin pattern taht you found. I was thinking of trying it myself but I got a little confussed about the directions. Maybe I will ahve to read them a few more times.
I looked at the link for the pumpkins and didn't see the directions. Help!!
oh i'm sorry. that's just the link to quilt in a day. i looked for directions on her website before and couldn't find them. i'm sorry, i'll put up a short tutorial.
Oh I found the pattern. Its at http://www.quiltinaday.com/eleanorandcompany/freepattern/ at the very bottom. You can also get to it by going to the quilt in a day link that Jo included and go to free downloads. It is at the bottom with the icon of a pumpkin. I just had a hard time figuring out the steps cause it seems like they left some out.
Also found a cool Christmas stocking on there that could be made as it is, or easily changed into ones like Joanna made a few years ago. Hmm, thinking about making some of both of those.
i think the pattern is complete. i put a link now. you're right it's at the bottom. i just used postal twine for the jute, whatever jute is.
Coffee cake looks yummy! May just try to make it even though it does have a lot of butter and sugar, you only live once rght??!! I LOVE the pumpkins, they are SO great! My mom would love those, I will have to make her some, thanks for the idea!
Thanks for the updated link - I found it now!
