Forgive me

Hello all. I have not fallen into a cave I have just been busy working and trying to manage the holidays! I do love seeing all the projects you are working on and I am jealous. I just wish I had more time and energy to do it all. I took the day off to go to the eye doctor and it turns out I am now nearsighted and need glasses! What a pain that is! Gosh, I never even knew glasses were SO expensive! Then I found out one of my co-workers passed away this weekend, she was only 37 and had 2 kids aged 11 and 9. I just visited her on Friday night at work and we talked about our Thanksgivings and she passed away in her sleep Friday night. I am so sad. I belong to a union at my job and we found out that our contract may not go through and we may strike on December 6th, which means no paycheck! Meanwhile the new store I am supposed to go, well, the opening has gotten postponed. It may be 2 weeks or so till I get to go there! I tell you! Meanwhile I have to figure out how to get my new glasses and make it through Christmas with or without working. I hope the new year will be better, this is just a slump and it too will pass. I hope I didn't bum you all out too much! I just wanted to let you know I am still alive!

oh my gosh! i knew about some of the stuff going on like the strike cause i just talked to derrek, but sheesh that is a lot you have going on. what happended to your friend? was she sick? that is so young to just pass away. her poor kids. that is so sad. i'm so sorry.

yeah, glasses are really expensive now. i went to lens crafters cause my lenses really need to be replaced. i got the anti-glare on them, but now the coating is coming off, which makes everything a little blurry. lens crafters wanted $200 for lenses without anti-glare and $290 for lenses with anti-glare. and we're not even talking frames!! you have to use a coupon to get a good deal. check out the websites of the place you are planning to buy from. there is an Eye Dr. across the street from us that have these super cute frames, but they said it would be about $600!!! but on their website, they have a buy one frame and lenses and get the second free. so at least i would get two glasses for that price. also, if you're work offers it, sign up for the medical flex spending account and you get to buy the glasses tax-free, which makes a big difference when you are spending that much. Also, if you find some frames that you really love and they are pricey, don't worry about it too much if it's from a good company because you get what you pay for. the glasses i have now, i got from kaiser and i think that is why the coating is coming off. i've only had them for about 2 years. if even that.

The eye doctor I went to is a friend of one of the pharmacists I work with, and he is giving me a deal. I like these frames by Kenneth Cole and they are small and lightweight so I think I am going to go with those. Thanks for the tip though. I think that is one of the reasons I am having so may migraines, because of the daily eye strain. I think spending the money now will help me in the long run. God knows I spend enough on medication for the darn headaches. Yeah, all in all it does fell like I lot. Is itbad to say, I can't wait for the year to be over?!

My friend died in her sleep and they are doing an autopsy to find out why. It is just so sudden and yes, I do feel so badly for her family and all. As far as we know she was not sick, but then again, who really knows. Maybe she did not even know. What a way to go though, very peaceful. Thanks for listening to me vent. This too shall pass right......

By the way...I did opt for the anti glare which was $130, but since I stare at a computer all day long I am not about to skimp on this. You are right....you get what you pay for. I am not going to skimp.

I'm sorry you are going through so much. I hope things improve soon - maybe your union will decide not to strike after all!

I just got new glasses too. We have eye insurance. It is really lame, but did give a $100 break on glasses, which helped!
